You Can’t Compete as a Media House if you Don’t Prioritize Sports in Your Media Organization – Prince Halid Mukadi Gbramoni

Sports has proven to be one of the most listened and watched activities across the globe, with majority of the listeners and viewers being the youth.


The widely used medium of communicating sporting activities are the print, radio, television, online and social media. Sports funs rely heavily on these mediums for information, and media organizations need to take the advantage by giving more priority to Sports.


Most of the media houses in Northern Region seem not to give more priority to sports programs. Sports has played a significant role in bringing people together, improve health and also reducing poverty among people.


Speaking to on the subject, Head of Sports of Zaa Radio, Prince Halid Mukadi Gbramoni indicated that, it is sad many radio stations in Tamale are not giving much attention to sports programs in their stations. He also stated some stations give “odd times” to sports which is absolutely unacceptable. Some media stations give small airtime to sports which is due to lack of appreciation to sports.

“I think sports has played an integral part in bringing people together and can make people to forget about politics, tribal and chieftaincy issues”. He said

He added that “Is only sports that motivate or inspire listeners. Sports will tell you Never give up, never give in, and always have hope”.


According to him, sports make a person to have the ability to handle win with dignity and absorb lost with determination.
