Yendi Sankara Nationals resume training in preparation for Division Two League
A month after the death of the founder of the club Coach Mohammed Gariba popularly called ‘Bannerman’, the Yendi based club is back to training starting from today 14th May, 2021, as they look forward to fulfilling the dying wishes of the late Coach Bannerman.
Qualifying to the Division One League was a number one target for the Coach, and his untimely death was a big blow to the team. The management have decided to let go of their worries and concentrate on the revival of the team, which is one of the treasure’s left behind by the founder Coach Bannerman.
The team in their quest to battle for the DOL slot have appointed coach Mohammed Hamza as the assistant coach of the club, who recently obtained his GFA License “D” coaching Certificate, and will be looking forward to adding his recently acquired skills to the development of the players.
Coach Mourinho who was the deputy to the late Coach Bannerman has now been promoted to the head coach position.
Mr. Mohammed Abdul- Rahaman, a co-founder of the club as well as other management board members will also be playing their roles as administrators of the club from now on.
The club has been a regular participant in the Division Two League and
for two seasons running played the final rounds and lost narrowly to Glory Stars now Nsotreman FC and Gbewaa FC
respectively. This made them two consecutive participants of the MTN FA CUP, first in 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 season.
They expect to have Coach Danjumah former (Gbewaa FC Coach). A lincense ‘A’ coach to take them through some physicals for the next two weeks, this they believed could enlighten the players and also awaken their spirit as they push to secure a qualification to the Division One League.
The Division Two League is expected to begin on June 5, 2021 which is two weeks from now.
The players and the management members have decided to play with all their might to honour the late Coach Bannerman with a qualification to the Division One League.
They have had 18 pre- season matches unbeaten including Real Tamale United, Tamale Utrecht,Tamale FC,Tiyuumba Stars, Zanwara fc all based in Tamale.
