Yendi Municipal Juvenile League: Soccer Heroes Babies U-17, crowned Champions

After weeks of competitive football displayed by the U-17 boys in the Yendi Municipal Juvenile League, the competition finally came to an end on Sunday 29th August, 2021 at the Na-Yakuba JHS Park.

Yendi Soccer Heroes are the U-17 champions for the Yendi Municipal Football Association after playing 12 matches, winning 11 with one draw. They ended the league with 34 points after a goalless draw against Great Amphibians Babies on Sunday.

 

The final game started with fine display from both sides with clear goal scoring chances but none could convert.

Soccer Heroes Babies knowing they were already Champions in waiting played well to the admiration of their massive fan base who came to support them like always.

Great Amphibians gave them a good fight and we’re inches away from getting a penalty during the dying minutes of the second half. The game ended in a goalless draw.

In a short ceremony to mark the end of the season, Yendi Soccer Heroes Babies U-17 team was handed the ultimate trophy for their fine display in the season. They played 12 games, winning 11 of them and then drawing 1 on the final day against Great Amphibians Babies.

Individual Awards

1. Best Goalkeeper: Adam Abukari (Great Amphibians Babies)

2. Top Scorer: Ibrahim Akpalo 7 goals (Yendi Soccer Heroes Babies)

3. Best Behaved Team: Great Amphibians Babies

4. Overall Best Player: Mohammed Misbaw (Yendi Soccer Heroes)

Yendi Municipal Football Association Chairman, Illiasu Ibrahim expressed gratitude to everyone who has made the league a success.

“I will like to thank the players, coaches, club management and the supporters for always being supportive and show of dedication throughout the season” Mr. Ibrahim stated

The Municipal Chairman also indicated that:
We shall be there to support you (Soccer Heroes) in the Regional U-17 Championship and hopefully the National Championship”

Tamale Metro Football Association on Saturday presented their District champions after Great Eagles beat Super Standfast on penalty in the final game.

All District U-17 Champions shall represent their various Districts to play in the Regional U-17 Championship in the coming weeks. The Regional Champion shall represent the the Region at the National event.
