The Yendi Municipal Football Association today Friday 30th April 2021 held a stakeholders meeting at the Yendi Community Center to deliberate on how to kick start the Juvenile Football.
Present at the meeting are the Yendi Municipal Football Association Chairman, Mr. Eliasu Ibrahim, the Juvenile Committee Chairman Mr. Rafiu, Chairman of the Juvenile Clubs Association and his secretary.
In his address, Mr. Eliasu Ibrahim reiterated the need to make football more accessible to the youth, and therefore call on clubs to and the media to do well in educating the youth on the benefits they stand to gain when they involve themselves into the game.
He also used the opportunity to call on the youth to venture into the refereeing job inorder to grow the game at the grass root level in the Municipality.
It is part of the RFA’s projects which they titled as “Catch Them Young” refereeing policy. It is meant to instill in them the technical know how, so that in growing up they will have the requisite knowledge on refereeing which will help them to become great officiating officials for continent of Africa.
He also encourage club administrator’s, coaches and referees to bring sanity into the Juvenile football system. He was of the view that football is meant to promote peace and to also entertain, and should coaches failed to do what is expected of them by insulting referees it will go a long way to bring violence and also set a bad record for Yendi football.
The Yendi Municipal Football Association still awaits the GFA’s decisions on how the juvenile league was going to be played and most especially who takes the responsibility of paying the referees.
The juvenile league is expected to begin in the middle of May and so they employed clubs to prepare their players before the start of the game.
The participants raised issues concerning the format of the league and who takes responsibility.
