Yakubu Labandow inspires Real Tamale United to a comfortable 3-1 Victory against Paga Crocodiles Stars
Former Yendi Gbewaa goal poacher Yakubu Labandow popularly called ‘Computer’, earned his goal scoring drought with a masterclass performance against Paga Crocodiles Stars which inspired the team to a comfortable 3-1 victory over the relegation battling side.
The young attacker has not been a regular in coach Shaibu Tanko’s team due to the injury he suffered in their opening game of the season against Kintampo FC, he scored the only goal in that game to hand RTU their first win of the season.
He missed most of their games as a result of his injury, but after coming back his place in the starting lineup was taken and he struggled for playing time.
Real Tamale United were top of the league before today’s fixture, a game they were tagged as favourites to win.
An early goal in the opening ten minutes and an own goal from Edmon Apoochab has the Pride of the north leading at half time before Thomas Ussher pulled one back in the second half to reduce his sides deficit.
Moments after their goal, Yakubu Labandow was introduced into the game, and in just few minutes after his introduction, he wowed the fans with a delightful goal to extend his sides lead beyond reach.
That goal was his second of the season and he will be happy his coming in yelled something positive for him and his team.
He has now given coach Shaibu Tanko a reason to place his bet on him again.
The win today has extended their lead on the top to seven points as Berekum Arsenals and Steadfast FC all played goalless in their respective games, should Bofoakwa Tano fails to record a win tomorrow against Kintampo FC tomorrow, it will be a perfect moment for RTU to start believing in their return to the Premiership.
Yakubu Labandow will hope he make a return back to the starting lineup in their away trip to face Wa Suntaa SC this weekend’s.
