WPL Super Cup 2022: Fabulous Ladies Escape with a 4-3 win over Police Ladies
It was raining goals at the Aliu Mahama Stadium when Fabulous Ladies and Police Ladies locked horns with each other on match day two of the ongoing Women’s Premier League Super Cup. Seven (7) goals shared between the two team.
Police Ladies took the lead when Deborah Afriyei provided a fine cross into the 18 yard box of Fabulous Ladies which was headed straight into the net by Grace Animah on the 19th minute.
However, the celebration was shot lived when Princess Owusu’s solo move gifted Fabulous Ladies an equaliser on the 20th minutes.
Shortly after the equalizer, Princess Owusu fantastic move into the goal area of Police Ladies resulted into a penalty. Princess Owusu stepped forward and left the goalkeeper standing to make it 2 for her name and 2-1 for the game.
Grave Animah missed a glaring opportunity to pull parity when she had a one on one with the goalkeeper on the 24th minutes.
Several chances came begging for Fabulous Ladies through Princess Owusu and Police Ladies Atanga Mariam but luck eluded both players.
Just when the center referee was about to blow for the first half, Afia Frimpong fired a pullout ball outside the 18 yard box into the right bottom corner of the net to make 3-1 at halftime.
Police Ladies came back stronger committing more player upfront and their efforts paid off when Henrietta Annie directed a through ball into the net after little misunderstanding between the defense of Fabulous Ladies to make 3-2.
Princess Owusu completed her hatrick for Fabulous Ladies after a long ball from the center left the defense of Police Ladies chase her into the net to make it 4-2 on the 60th minute.
Police Ladies fought so hard but their efforts could only enable Fabulous Ladies runaway with a 4-3 win when Deborah Afriyei scored beautifully on the 77th minute.
The derby before the Women’s Premier League is PearlPia Ladies vs Northern Ladies at 3:00pm.
