The head coach of Northern Ladies Fc, Sumani Basiru-Deen could not hide his excitement after his team emphatic victory against Ashtown Ladies Fc at Pa Joe Park in Kumasi. Northern Ladies Fc won the match convincingly by 3-1 to put themselves on top of the league log of the Northern Zone after the Match Day 1.
Speaking to Sportsmrnews.com, the coach expressed his delight over the performances of his players. He stated that the players performed very well in the match, erasing the initial thought that there were going to be challenges since the team is still young. He disclosed that most of his players are grassroot players he picked from division one clubs, and that he’s still growing them. So for the young players according to him, to give such wonderful performance in the match was awesome.
“The girls have made me very happy today. Their performance in the match today actually excite me. Am happy for myself and am happy for the girls”. Said Coach Basiru-Deen.
On the new signings, the head coach applauded their performance and indicated that money spent on them was money well spent.
However, Coach Sumani Basiru-Deen insisted that the absence of Abdulai Mukarama would not affect Northern Ladies Fc so much since there are players to fill the vacuum created by the most decorated young female football player in Ghana.
“Last year Mukarama was not there but we were scoring goals. So we can still do it this year in her absence.” The Coach added.
Northern Ladies Fc will play their second match of the season on Friday, 22nd January, 2021 at Aliu Mahama Stadium.
