WPL : My Goal Boosted Our Moral to Avoid Defeat in the Hands of Fabulous Ladies in Kumasi.
Northern Ladies Fc shared spoil with Fabulous Ladies on Match Day 5 in Kumasi on Saturday, 20th February, 2021. Fabulous Ladies took the lead through Princess Owusu on 32nd minute before Alhassan Fakiha got the equalizer on the 51st minute through a powerful header from a conner kick. However, the home side restored their lead through Mavis Annima on 54th minute but Jafar Rahama equalized on the 70th minute to make it 2-2.
Speaking to Sportsmrnews.com via phone call, Alhassan Fakiha disclosed the importance of the goal she scored. She indicated that pressure started mounting on them after Fabulous Ladies got the opener but her equalizing goal brought normalcy in the game in favor of Northern Ladies.
“My goal was very important to the team. Fabulous Ladies first goal gave us some pressure as if we were losing the match. But the goal I scored brought us back into the game by boosting our moral to avoid defeat”, Fakiha said.
The former captain of Dahinsheli Ladies Fc has been in fantastic form since she moved from the Division One side to the Premier League side, Northern Ladies. She plays at all the positions in the back four and can also play as a winger because of her pace and ability to take on defenders on the flanks. Her height, strength and pace play significant role in her performances during matches.
The 16 year old defender is also superb in taking Set Pieces, and normally scores from those kicks. She has been one of the good performers in Northern Ladies Fc and has established herself as on of the few fans favorites.
When asked about Northern Ladies Vrs Supreme Ladies scheduled for Friday, 26th February, 2021, Alhassan Fakiha expressed optimism that her side shall surely beat Supreme Ladies to claim the three maximum points.
“Inshaa Allah, we shall beat them hands down. We are going back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes and come back strongly for the match against Supreme Ladies. They said Supreme Ladies have a particular good and sharp player, I will do extra training just to be sure that I mark her out on Friday”, Alhassan Fakiha added.
Fakiha is one of the few players tipped to become national stars for Ghana sooner than due to her talent and performance rate.
Northern Ladies Fc shall welcome Supreme Ladies in week 6 on Friday, 26th February, 2021. The Northern club is currently 5th on the league log for the Northern Zone with 6 points.
