WPL Match Day 6 Report : Northern Ladies 1-0 Supreme Ladies

Tamale based Women’s Premier League club, Northern Ladies welcomed Supreme Ladies to Aliu Mahama Stadium on Friday, 26th February, 2021 for the Women’s Premier League Match Day 6. The match was thrilling to watch as both clubs refused to leave any stone unturned.

The home side, Northern Ladies started the match with high tempo, pushing so hard to get an early goal so they can possibly frustrate the visitors, Supreme Ladies. Northern Ladies created two scoring chances in the first 10 minutes of the match but failed to convert any into a goal.

Supreme Ladies realizing the intention of the opponents to get an early goal decided to be defensively minded by keeping more Ladies at the back to prevent the home side from getting the early goal. Thanks to the experienced play by Sara Kulible, the captain of Supreme Ladies.

However, on the 13th minute, Torkodzo Fredrica sneaked out on the right wing to provide a very glary cross into the penalty area of Supreme Ladies which was headed in by Northern Ladies attacker, Salifu Victoria to give Northern Ladies the lead.

Coach Basiru Deen’s side continued to push hard just to extend the lead but the captain of the visitors, Sara Kulible and her defensive partner, Afia Frimpomaa said no their request.

In the second half, the visitors came in strong by adopting the long balls style, locating their wingers, Nancy Amoh and Linda Owusu Ansah to send the balls to the Black Princesses attacker, Sandra Owusu Ansah to do the finishing but the good defensive network between Alhassan Fakiha, Korankye Gladys, Seidu Faiza and Amoako Dorothy denied Supreme Ladies from getting the equalizer. Nancy Amoh came close to scoring but her flick from Sandra Owusu Ansah’s shot across went wide.

So many chances were created by both teams but only one goal was destined to come in the match. The match ended 1-0 in Favour of the home side, Northern Ladies.

Northern Ladies shall face Ampem Dakoa in the last matches of the first round in Techiman while Supreme Ladies welcome City rivals, Ashtown Ladies.
