Women’s Football : Meet Northern Ladies and Black Maidens defender, Faiza Seidu.
Faiza Seidu is one of the finest female players in the country right now. She is a product of Kpanvo Future Ladies in Tamale. She currently plays for Premier League Side, Northern Ladies, Tamale.
Faiza plays as a central defender and sometimes used us a wing back due to her speed and good technique when handling the ball.
Her ability to play in all the positions at the back four has made her a favorite for every coach.
Faiza is a gifted central defender with all the qualities you will need from a centre back.
In this modern football, the secret of every football club now lies in their defense, when you have a solid defense, it means majority of your team’s problems are solved.
These days getting a perfect central defender is not easy to come by, as they are not common in the the system. She is absolutely a master of using her strength to mark out her opponents.
Composure is something you will not missed from Faiza. She is always calm under pressure and has the ability to move forward with the ball when in possession.
As a result of her ability to read the opponents play and also reacting early to defend the situation, she has earned herself as an undisputed center back in any team she finds herself.
For her good morning defensive work, she earned a call up to the female U-17 national team, the Black Maidens in February last year in their World Cup qualifiers against Liberia which they won by a 10-0 aggregate.
The 16 year old Northern Ladies and Black Maidens defender has some special qualities that every coach needs in a defender. She has a high speed rate, strength is something you can’t take away from this young girl, not just the strength alone but she has got a special stamina to always defend well without causing foul when not in possession.
Faiza has been a source of dependence at the back for Northern Ladies in the Women’s league. She has played in all the four matches in this year’s Women’s Premier League.
It won’t be surprising to see this special talent in the U-20 female national team and subsequently the in the Black Quuens in a near future.
Due to Faiza’s great works at the back, every coach she played for has always made her a regular starter in his or her team. There’s no doubt that the future is bright for this talented young girl.
