WAKASO ANNUAL CHALLENGE CUP (U-15) LAUNCHED AHEAD OF THE COMMENCEMENT OF JUVENILE FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS IN TAMALE

Wakaso Annual Challenge Cup is an U-15 competition organized by Tamale Metro Football Association for clubs within their jurisdiction to honor Wakaso Mubarak as a proud son of the football association.

The proposal to its effect was sent to the Jiangsu Suning midfielder to study and approve or otherwise. However, the former midfielder of Villarreal of Spain accepted the document and gave his approval. He then went ahead to provide funds for the competition to kick start once the green light is given for Juvenile football to resume.

On 14th January, 2021 at Aliu Mahama Stadium, the competition was launched ahead of the new Juvenile football season.

In attendance were the RFA Chairman for Northern Region, Alhaj Abu Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzo, Chairman for Tamale Metro Football Association, Abdul Aziz Ramzy, Chairman for Savelugu Municipal Football Association, Alhassan Babana, Chairman for Tolon football association, Adam Ibrahim (Home Boy), Veteran sports broadcasters in Northern Region, Mohammed Bako Alhassan and Alhassan Issahaku Dagbamba-Naa, Coaches and football administrators.

The Chairman for Tamale Metro Football Association, Abdul Aziz Ramzy expressed his delight for having his dream materialized. He thanked Wakaso Mubarak for his wonderful kind gesture and asked the house to join him prayer for the Black Stars midfielder.

Wakaso Mubarak started his football in Tamale. He played for Eagles Fc and Tamale Real Republicans before moving to AshantiGold SC in Obuasi. He has also played for several European clubs such as Villarreal, Espanyol, Deportivo Alaves, Celtic etc.

Speaking in the launching, NRFA Chairman, Alhaj Abu Hassan Rhyzo commended Tamale Metro Football Association for the good initiative and urged the clubs to be law abiding before, during and after the competition. The kind, humble and visionary RFA Chairman called on other benevolent individuals to emulate Wakaso Mubarak so the game can grow in the region.

The NRFA Chairman also used the opportunity to swear in Mohammed Bashiru as an ExCo member of Tamale Metro Football Association. The subject was on pre-season campaign with his club, Tamale City far away Accra when the ExCo members were sworn in on 22nd November, 2020.
