MUBARAK WAKASO ANNUAL CHALLENGE CUP (U-15) : GREAT EAGLES WIN THE MAIDEN EDITION, 2021.

Wakaso Annual Challenge Cup is a competition designed for the U-15 category of the juvenile clubs in the Tamale Metropolis. The competition is aimed at giving more playing time for U-15 players so they can develop well in football. The first edition of the competition started few months ago and ended on Thursday, 16th September, 2021 at Kalandan Park, Tamale.

The final match was between the two former clubs of Wakaso Mubarak, Tamale Real Republicans FC and Great Eagles FC. Coach Hassan Issah’s Great Eagles won 4-3 on penalties to claim the trophy.

In attendance were Alhaj Abu Hassan Rhyzo (Chairman, NRFA), Black Stars and Shenzhen Midfielder, Wakaso Mubarak, Hajia Zelia Iddi (Chairperson, NRFA Women’s Committee), Coach Alhassan Yakubu Dawuo (Chairman, NRFA Juvenile Committee), Mr Ibrahim Dauda (Chairman, Sagnarigu MFA), Mr Alhassan Babana (Chairman, Savelugu MFA), Mr Ibrahim Adam (Chairman, Tolon DFA) and many other dignitaries from the football fraternity.

The winners, Great Eagles were presented a trophy, 12 footballs, medals and Cash Prize of Ghc850. The runner’s up, Tamale Real Republicans also received 8 footballs, medals and Cash amount of Ghc850. Four Footballs and Ghc650 were presented to the 3rd place team, FC Gamama whiles 2 footballs and Ghc 650 were given to the 4th place team, Soccer Missionaries Academy.

Great Eagles Fc

Individual players were also honored with prizes. The Best Goalkeeper award went to Mohammed Kailan, Great Eagles Fc. He received hand gloves and a trophy. Best defender was Zakaria Siisu of Gamama Fc who also received football boot and trophy. The top scorer, Umar Abdul-Fatawu of Great Eagles also went home with football boot and a trophy. Amadu Abdul-Latif, Soccer Missionaries Academy was adjudged the overall best player of the competition who also received Football boot and a trophy. Issah Alhassan was adjudged the best coach of the tournament after going unbeaten in the tournament. He received Ghc200.

Referee James Asuro and Tawfik Iddi were adjudged best Center Referee and best Assistant Referee of the competition respectively.
