Spain’s World Cup and Euros winning coach, Vicente Del Bosque believes Barcelona and Argentina captain Lionel Andres Messi is the best player in the world, and the debate as to who should be considered the best between Messi and Ronaldo should not be a big deal.
He believes Messi still plays the attractive game many adore and has maintained that level till now.
He also believes that, him throwing his weight behind Messi does not meant he is discrediting Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi [is the best worldwide] and I’m going to tell you why,” Del Bosque told Canal Sur.
“I’m not [saying it] to discredit Cristiano. [Messi] is a kid from the street, from the neighbourhood.
“One of those who we played with and he made fun of you on the pitch. That’s why he’s the best player of the world.”
The two of them has been on each other’s shoulders since 2008, winning 11 of the last 12 FIFA Ballon D’Or awards with Messi holding six and Ronaldo five to his name.
Both are currently representing their respective national teams in the ongoing Copa America tournament and the European Championship.
