UPL Awards : Tamale Metro Football Association Support Referee Barkisu Salifu in Her Quest to Win Award
Tamale Metro Football Association under the leadership of Mr Abdul-Aziz Ramzy (Chairman) has presented an undisclosed sum of money to Referee Barikisu Salifu to vote for herself on behalf of the Association in the contest of winning the best female referee award in Ghana. Referee Barikisu received a nomination in the Universal Premier League Awards to be voted the best female referee in the country. She is one of the finest female referees in Ghana and has successfully officiated a lot of big matches as center referee, both in male and female categories.
The young referee is one of the four female referees in Ghana that were selected for FIFA badges. The fitness test to its effect took place on Saturday, 28th August, 2021 in Accra. Barikisu is tipped by most football enthusiasts to get the fifa badge based on the excellent job she has been doing in the refereeing. She is intelligent, hard working and very brave in making decisions during officiation of matches. She is always looked up to by Referees Appointment Committees to officiate bigger and crucial matches in women’s football, both in Northern Region and in Ghana.
Mr. Salman Faris, acting Chairman for Juvenile Committee of Tamale Metro Football Association did the presentation to Referee Barikisu Salifu on behalf of the chairman of the Association, Mr Abdul-Aziz Ramzy. Mr Salman used the opportunity to call on all the stakeholders of football, the benevolent individuals and organizations to come out fully to support referee Barikisu to win the accolade. He stated that, a win for the referee is a win for all in the football family.
The Northern Regional Instructor of Referees, Mr Ali Alhassan thanked Tamale Metro Football Association on behalf of referee Barikisu for the love shown to them. He said, Barikisu Salifu and the entire referees are grateful to the association. He added that, the action of Tamale Metro Football Association shows that they have referees at heart and would always stand for them, both in good and in bad.
