Tamale City FC clashes with Young Apostles in a faith determining fixture at the Sunyani Coronation Park
Tamale City FC hopes of qualifying for the Premiership could be hit with a big blow should they failed to walk home with all the three maximum points against Young Apostles FC.
Tamale City so far have accumulated 29 points which has them occupying 5th place on the league standings with their game against Techiman City yet to be decided by the GFA.
Which means they trail leaders RTU by seven points for now, should they failed to record a win against Young Apostles, it will be a big blow to the Tamale based club most especially, should Real Tamale United win against Nkoranza worriors.
The home team lost their opening game of the second round against Nkoranza worriors but made quick amendments to beat Nsoatreman FC at home by a goal.
They started the first round strongly and many predicted that they were a team to chase for the Premiership slot, but a decline in form resulting to poor results limited their chances of fighting for the slot.
Tamale City meanwhile had a poor start to the second round just as they did in the first round, their 1-1 draw against Nkoranza worriors at home was a disappointing result for the Tamale club.
They also played a 0-0 draw against Kintampo FC on match day 16
Tamale City should have done better during the re-opening of the second transfer window, their attackers are not leaving up to expectations.
Sam Otis has been their top scorer with 8 goals, and most of his goals were scored in their first ten games of the season. This raises question marks on the consistency level of Sam Otis.
Isaac Mensah is next with 4 goals. Comparing to that of Steadfast fc where Alhassan Siisu has 9 goals, Abdul Fataw Issahaku in seven games with 8 goals, Abu Abdullah and Mohammed Sheriff all with 4 goals each.
RTU also have five of their players with four goals to their respective names.
For Tamale City to contend for the Premiership slot, they must look sharp in front of goal especially Sam Otis whom the club has depended heavily on this season.
Players like Wemah must emulate the work Mohammed Sheriff is doing at Steadfast Fc and try to add attacking abilities to his game, just as Issah Nyabilla is also doing with Bofoakwa Tano.
Wemah as a central defender must not only concentrate in defending but should push forward to challenge for air balls especially during set pieces.
They ended the first round without being beating by their fellow Premiership contenders, which was a very positive and great work. But playing draw against Nkoranza worriors at home raised some doubts about their preparedness to challenge for the Premiership slot in the zone.
Coach Hamza Mohammed will have to workout the negatives and prepare his side well with a winning mentality in their next games to still keep their hopes alive.
It will be a tough contest between both teams, but in the end Tamale City will have to go back home with all the three maximum points or blame themselves should they failled to qualify for the ultimate.
