St. John Ambulance Organizes Annual Refresher Course in Tamale

St. John Ambulance, a key stakeholder in health and emergency services, organized a two-day refresher training course on ‘First Aid at Work’ in Tamale from Thursday, June 12 to Friday, June 13, 2025. The course brought together volunteers from three divisions: Sakasaka Division, SSNIT Division, and Kanvile RC Division. Additionally, representatives from several schools participated, including Tamale Senior High School, Ghana Senior High School, Kumbungu Senior High School, Savelugu Senior High School, and Dabokpaa Technical/Senior High School.
The training covered a wide range of critical first aid topics, including Emergency Response, CPR for Adults, Children and Infants, Heart Attack and Stroke Management, Choking (in both adults and children), Sepsis/Meningitis, Severe External Bleeding, Shock, Head Injuries, treatment of Burns and Scalds and many others.
Participants received internationally recognized certificates valid in 42 countries. The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Samed Iddrisu (Regional Health Educator), Mr. Mubarik Imoro (First Aid Facilitator), Mr. Haruna Mohammed Fuseini (Savannah Regional Coordinator), and Madam Paulina Larweh (Senior Biostatistics Assistant).
Special guests at the event included the National CEO of St. John Ambulance Ghana, Dr. Anthony K. Apedzi, Esq., and the Northern Regional Coordinator, Mr. Charles Sabuli Lwanga. The refresher course also created a platform for volunteers to share their concerns and suggestions directly with the CEO for consideration.
