RTU deserve to win, Hearts of Oak Coach Martin Koopman
Hearts of Oak’s head coach, Martin Koopman, has expressed his disappointment following their loss on the opening day of the 2023/24 BetPawa Premier League season. He commended Real Tamale United for their impressive performance during the match.
The Phobians endured a 1-0 defeat, with Owusu Afriyie’s injury-time header securing the victory for Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in week one of the season.
Koopman shared his thoughts, stating, “Losing is always disappointing, but, firstly, it was an exciting game to watch. It was a hard-fought match. While we prefer to play football, when that’s not possible, we must fight.”
“In the first half, they had numerous chances, so we can’t deny that they deserved their victory. Their last-minute corner kick goal sealed the deal, and I believe they earned the win overall,” Koopman conveyed to StarTimes.
“Overall, I’m satisfied with the performance, and we’re looking forward to the next game. We need to make progress and work diligently with this young team. I have confidence in them, but it’s a bittersweet feeling for us,” he added.
Hearts of Oak will face Nsoatreman FC on matchday two in Accra as they aim to bounce back from their opening-day defeat.
