It is match day 18 encounter between Nkoranza worriors and the current leaders of Zone One Real Tamale United.
Real Tamale United came into this game at the back of a 4-2 victory against Kintampo FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. The results was enough to send them top of the table as their closed rivals Steadfast Fc drew 1-1 against fellow Promotion Chasers Berekum Arsenals at the Golden City Park.
The home team had a good start to the second round as they beat Young Apostles by a loan goal at home on match day 16 before making a trip to Tamale, to record a 1-1 draw against Tamale City FC.
Real Tamale United will hope to win this game to stretch their lead at the top, as their closest two contenders will also be battling each other at same venue on Thursday.
Steadfast FC and Bofoakwa Tano are all levelled with 34 points, two points behind RTU and they shall be battling each other tomorrow.
The Worriors will also hope to continue their fine start of the second round of the season. They currently seat ninth on the league standings with 21 points and could move a further up with a win today against the table leaders.
After the addition of Ronald Frimpong from Nzema Kotoko to the team late in the first round, RTU’s attack has strengthen as the attacker has already scored four goals and providing one assist.
Only Steadfast Abdul Fataw Issahaku will have a better statistics than Ronald Frimpong, who has scored eight goals, with six assist and five MVP awards.
Derick Gyamfi is the leading scorer for Nkoranza worriors with four goals, he will be looking forward to add to his tally when they face off the leaders today.
Baba Kushibo, Mohammed Sadat, Mustapha Fuseini and Abubakar Nawas have all registered four goals to their respective names, which makes it difficult to prevent them from scoring.
The game is poised to cause the table leaders some troubles,but with their experience coach Shaibu Tanko leading them on the touchline, they are destined to overcome the Worriors in their own land.
Their inability to get back to the Premiership since their relegation in 2013 is still fresh in their minds, this is the closest they have come and will not want to throw away that important opportunity.
