Real Tamale United (RTU) Players Rally to Cover FA Fine with 500 Cedis Contributions

Real Tamale United (RTU) players have joined forces to contribute 500 Ghana cedis towards settling a 3,000 Ghana cedis fine imposed by the Ghana Football Association disciplinary committee. The fine stems from a misconduct during RTU’s league home match against Dreams FC on November 19, 2023.
Earlier this week, the GFA disciplinary committee reminded RTU to clear the fine before their match day 18 fixture against Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, highlighting the risk of point deductions if the payment is not made promptly.
In response to the club’s financial challenges, RTU supporters have taken the initiative to pool contributions, recognizing the club’s precarious state. Upon learning of the supporters’ efforts, the playing body added their contribution of 500 Ghana cedis to complement the supporters’ union.
It’s worth noting that RTU currently faces a significant financial crisis, with players owed three months’ salary arrears. This situation could worsen if the payments are not made by the end of February, potentially extending the arrears to four months.
Additionally, RTU has been dealt a blow with a three-match ban from playing at their home grounds in Tamale. This penalty, accompanied by a further 10,000.00 cedis fine, follows fan misconduct during their match against Medeama SC in December of last year.
