Real Tamale United dethrone Steadfast FC at the top after Disciplinary Committee’s decision
Real Tamale United are back to the top of the table after the GFA Displinary Committee Declared them winners of match day 16 Techiman city failed to show up. Per the decision, RTU is awarded three points and three goals which pushed them to 40 points
The ‘Pride of the North’ before the ruling was 2nd on the league standings with 37 points, trailing their neighbors Steadfast FC with just a point. The Displinary Committee declared RTU after Techiman City were found to have breach article (33) (1) (f), article (33) (3) of the GFA general regulations.
They Displinary Committee also stated that Techiman City had breached the above stated articles of the GFA general regulations and has therefore awarded Real Tamale United 3 points and 3 goals and further deducted 3 points from Techiman City accumulated points from the matches they have played pursuant to article (34) (5) of the GFA general regulations.
This means that, RTU will displace Steadfast FC and climb to the to with an accumulated 40 points. This could be a boost to RTU ahead of their derby encounter with arch City rivals Tamale City FC who were also awarded 3 points and 3 goals against the same defaulting club on their Matchday 15 fixture, which ended abruptly at the Ohene Ameyaw Park due to fans misbehavior.
Coach Shaibu Tanko’s men will now hope their current form continues as they look forward to edge past their City rivals on Sunday in the Tamale Derby.
The last meeting had Tamale City taking the bragging rights with a slim 1-0 victory, which has set up another fierce contest considering the positions of both clubs.
RTU currently leads Tamale City with five points from City and a win on Sunday shall stretch their lead over their rivals to 8. On the other hand, a win for Tamale City will close the gap to just two points.
Both Coach Shaibu Tanko and Hamza Mohammed will be optimistic to getting all the three maximum points to increase their promotion chances.
