Northern Region: The Maiden Edition of Naa Gbewaa Charity Cup Launched

Naa Gbewaa Charity Cup was launched on Wednesday, 2nd November, 2022 at Aliu Mahama Stadium. The competition which is meant to promote Dagbong through football is initiated by a non-profit organization known as Dagbong Excellence Foundation.

 

 

As stated by the Executive Director of the foundation, Mr Abdallah Abu, the Foundation aims to promote the good name of Dagbong using the power of football. He added that, it is the long term plan of the Foundation to have big clubs from different counties and continents such as Al-Ahal (Egypt), Chelsea (England), Manchester United (England) etc participate in the competition.

 

The director again outlined some benefits that participating clubs could derive from the tournament. Some of the prominent benefits outlined were developing trophy winning mentality among the clubs in Dagbong, giving clubs platforms to prepare for their respective tournaments, placing clubs in positions to attract sponsors etc.

 

 

RTU, Tamale City, Steadfast FC and Kumbung Binbiem FC are the participating clubs in the maiden competition. The pairing was done by NRFA led by the secretary, Mr Abdul-Gafaru Abdul-Karim as seen below:
Tamale City Vrs Steadfast FC and RTU Vrs Kumbung Binbiem FC.

 

The suggested dates for the competition are 25th November, 2022 and 26th November, 2022. The dates fall within the World Cup break during which all clubs shall be on break.
