NORTHERN LADIES FC WON 3-1 AGAINST FC YOUNG BRAZIL (BOYS U-15) IN A PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY.
Northern Ladies Fc engaged Young Brazil (Boyz U-15) in a Pre-Season friendly match on Wednesday, 11th November, 2020 at Assemblyman Park, Water Works in Tamale. The match started well for the Northern based Women’s Premier League side as they took charge of ball possession for the first 20-25 minutes of the first half but failed to break the deadlock.
Coach Asima’s Juvenile side, Young Brazil started putting pieces together by stopping the dominance of Northern Ladies Fc. Ball possession could now be seen as 50-50 to both sides. The tempo of the game was high as both clubs were pushing for the opener.
The deadlock was finally broken on the 29th minute when Osei Victoria scored a very wonderful goal that could best be described as a personal goal. Thanks to the long flying ball from distance that defeated the young goalkeeper of Fc Young Brazil, Ayuba Nawas through rebouncing.
FC Young Brazil did not leave any stone unturned as they pushed so hard for an equalizer which they had on the 34th minute through the young brilliant chap, Ibrahim Sayibu Babamu who calmly put the ball beyond the reach of Northern Ladies goalkeeper, Salifu Barikisu.
However, Northern Ladies Fc with the desire to win their first pre-season match fought back to get the second goal on 38th minute. Thanks to Konlan Charity’s fine finish of the rebounce from Alhassan Fakiha’s dangerous set piece which nearly beat FC Young Brazil’s goalkeeper, Ayuba Nawas.
The Assist, Alhassan Fakiha turned the scorer this time around as she expertly put the ball above the defensive wall of FC Young Brazil in a set piece situation to get the 3rd goal for Coach Basiru-Deen’s side, Northern Ladies Fc. The match ended 3 – 1 in favour of Northern Ladies Fc.
Speaking to Sportsmrnews.com after the match, the head coach of Northern Ladies Fc, Sumani Basiru-Deen expressed satisfaction of his players performance in the match, especially their build up from defence to attack. But he admitted that the players still need to improve in some areas.
“I was satisfied with the performance of the players. Their build up from defence to attack was good. I was looking for one pass but I ended seeing three or four passes. So it was good.” Said Sumani Basiru-Deen.
On the new signings Northern Ladies Fc made in the window, the coach was happy to see them did very well in match.
“The new signings did very well. You could see them playing good football . But they still need time to adapt much better.” Coach Basiru added.
The Ghana National Women’s League is expected to start on 2nd January, 2020.
