No One is 100% Perfect! So Football Fans Ought to be Patient with Referees – N/R Referees Manager, A. A Alhassan.
Hooliganism in football has become rampant in Ghana. Several attacks on Match Officials have been recorded in our football from the lower level to the top level. The Referees Manager of Northern Region, Mr A. A Alhassan associates this canker to lack of patience among football people in the country.
“No one is 100% Perfect! We all err. It does happen. So we ought to be extremely patience during matches at match venues. It is lack of patience that brings the hooliganism in our football”, Mr A. A Alhassan said.
The RAG Chairman, Northern Region appealed to football fans in Ghana, especially in Northern Region to always exercise extreme patience during matches at match venues. He was speaking on Radio Tamale, 91.7mhz via telephone call during a sports program, ‘SportsCenter’.
The experienced referee and educationist, Mr Alhassan also touched on the referees fitness test that took place at Aliu Mahama Stadium on Saturday, 18th September, 2021 and Sunday, 19th September, 2021. He disclosed that he was impressed and satisfied with the performance of the referees that took part in the fitness test. According to him, only two referees from the Northern Region failed to make it. However, they would be given another opportunity to run again, according to the astute referee.
“I was impressed and satisfied with their performance. Only two that could not make it. I believe they can make it in the second attempt”. He added
The GFA Match Commissioner, Mr. A. A Alhassan again disclosed that the Catch Them Young Referees program is still ongoing and that parents that wish to bring their children can still do so.
