N/R: Yendi Municipal Football Association officially inaugurated
The Yendi Municipal Football Association on Saturday was officially inaugurated at the Yendi Community centre.
A number of high profile people graced the occasion, key among them was the representative of Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association in the person of Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo, who couldn’t make it due to his trip with the U-20 national team to Mauritania for the Afcon tournament.
The vice Chairman of the Regional Football Association, Ibrahim Musah Kessie represented Alhaji Ryzo, conveyed the chairman’s message. He spoked on the need to always follow the right channels in showing grievances and task all club administrator’s not to bypass the chairman in logging their complains.
The chairman of the inauguration ceremony was Alhaji Mohammed Babatu, called for sustenance of peace in the area by using the beautiful game of soccer. He once represented the Northern FA at a meeting in the national capital. He recall how they use to play football at their days and edge the youth to also try to involve themselves in playing football, as it serves as a way to exercise the body and also a sure way to make money.
Also in attendance was the MCE for the Yendi Municipality , Hon. Ahmed Abubakari Yussif, who tasked the association to try to work hard to make sure clubs as well as the association itself gets sponsors to help grow football in the area.
He was also happy that Gbewaa FC is representing the municipality in the Division One League and encourage other division two clubs to follow the footsteps of Gbewaa. He also said Gbewaa’s participation in the DOL has brought so many sports infrastructures to the municipality, referring to the Stadium and the Astro turf park.
The headmaster of Dagbon State Senior Technical School, Mr Alhassan Mubarik spoke on the need for football administrator’s to always preach peace to their supporters as that can help strengthen the peace we are enjoying now. He assured the association of his involvement in their activities.
Chief Balogu Kpanalana, a representative of the Ya-naa was also in attendance, who also talked on the need to promote peace in the community using sports, he said the Overlord was a fan of the game and will also support the association both in kind and in cash. He donated undisclosed amount to the association on behalf of the Ya-naa.
The Chairman of the Association Mr. Eliasu Ibrahim welcomed all the guest and promised to work hand in hand with his colleagues to make sure the image of Yendi is uplifted through football. He called on stake holders to support the association to achieve it’s objectives.
The chairman of the Northern Regional Juvenile Clubs Committee Coach Alhassan Dawuo was also in attendance, the Chairman for Division Two Clubs Mr. Mohammed Tahidu was also in attendance, the Assistant Headmaster of Yendi S.H.S Mr. Edward Akakpo and the sports master of the school Mr. Tanko were all in attendance.
It is expected that Yendi Municipal Football Association will work hard to catch up with the other Districts in the region who have started work long before.
