N/R : Yendi Municipal Football Association Chairman holds stakeholders meeting with referees and coaches.

In a separate meeting on Sunday 2nd May,2021 and Monday 3rd May, 2021, the chairman of the Yendi municipal football association Iliasu Ibrahim holds a stakeholders meeting with the Referees Association and the division two clubs coaches.

He made it clear before the start of the meeting with the Division Two clubs coaches that, though they are out of his jurisdiction,he hopes to work in hand with all football bodies in the Municipality to change the face of Yendi Football.

The meeting on Sunday was to offer them the opportunity to bring out their views on how they are to prepare for the start of the division two league.

The Yendi Municipality currently has a team competing in the division one league, which is Gbewaa FC but the Association still want to double their representation in the second tier league.

It was proposed that lack of quality pitches are affecting the clubs in the Municipality, and hence called on the National Sports Authority(NASA) and the Yendi municipal assembly to come to the aid of the clubs by speeding up the work in the two sports Complexes in the Yendi township which is currently under construction.

They believed when these things are put in place, the clubs can compete anywhere with any club, not doubting the potentials of the players.

It was also agreed that, the Association will work hand-in-hand with clubs to make sure after the division two league season, outstanding players shall be selected from the clubs and send them on a pre-season tour to play with DOL clubs and that of Premier League Clubs, to offer some of the players the platform to get scouted by the topflight clubs.

He also used the opportunity to announced to members that plans are far ahead to print banners of the late Coach Bannerman, which shall be hanged on match centers and observe a minute silent as the Association’s way of mourning the late Vice Chairman and founder of Yendi Sankara Nationals.

The Chairman also announced their newly approved fan games for the division two clubs in the town,which has been organized to celebrate the marriage union of Mr. Awal, who happens to be both a player and an administrator of Yendi Soccer Heroes.

As part of the proposals made during the meeting, coaches and club administrators were to be an example to their players and supporters, and most supporters and players turn out to be disrespectful towards referees and opposition players upon the directives or behaviours of their team officials.

The FA Chairman also on Monday met with the Referees Association,with the sole intention of finding out the negative attitudes of players towards they the officials and to make amends with the clubs and players before the division two and juvenile league games begin.

In attendance was the referees Association Chairman, ‘Officer’ as he is popularly called and his assistant Mr. Rauf together with most of their members.

The referees Association Chairman in his submission thanked Mr. Iliasu Ibrahim for such an initiative, and promised that his Association will try their possible best to strengthen their existing relationship with the FA.
He also pledged to assist in the education of players on the laws of the game ask demanded by Mr. Iliasu Ibrahim.
Per the chairmans demand,the referees together with him shall go round to educate players and team Officials on their roles during matches as this has been an obstacle to match Officials during league games.

It was also recommended that teams should help to form supporters Unions,which could help in curbing the growing disturbances during matches.

The referees Chairman also reminded the FA chairman Mr. Iliasu Ibrahim, to spread out the message to the general public on the GFA’s newly introduced “Catch Them Young” referees Programme,which aims to involve young people falling within the age range of 14-16 years into refereeing.

Also as part of the Association’s efforts to make sure there is an incident free during the division two league matches,they have called for the referees to begin to enforce some of the rules during the fan games,which when used effectively can help the players to really understand the rules,which could help limit some unnecessary and unwanted behaviours at match venues during the league games.

Mr. Ibrahim after listening to their concerns thanked all of them and promised to work in his capacity as the Yendi municipal football association chairman to make sure all the proposals are implemented effectively.

All this things according to the chairman is to assist the Regional Football Association in the fight against violence misconducts as a result of fans,players and clubs administrators misbehaviors during league matches.

The Fan games as scheduled shall commenced on the 17th May, 2021 at the Soccer Lions Park near Yendi E.P JHS on the Tamale road.
