N/R: Referees that Failed to Attend the 2023 Refresher Course may not be Allowed to Officiate in this Year’s Regional Leagues – Referees Manager, A. A. Alhassan.
The Northern Regional Football Association in collaboration with the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG-N/R) organized a three-Day Refresher Course for all Referees in Northern Region. The program started from Friday 6th January, 2023 and ended on Sunday, 8th January, 2023. Referees needed to pay nothing to attend the course. All expenses were born by the Northern Regional Football Association.
Over hundred Referees including the ‘Catch Them Young’ Referees attended the Refresher Course ahead of the 2023 regional leagues.
However, some few Referees failed to show up for the course that was meant to refresh their minds on the laws of the game and also abreast themselves with some few changes that are made to the laws of the game. This prompted the Northern Regional Referees Manager, Mr. A. A Alhassan to state emphatically that Referees that did not attend the program might not be allowed to officiate in the regional leagues, except those with justifiable and tangible reasons for their absence. He spoke on Radio Tamale’s Sports Show, ‘Ti Baŋsim Taba Diema ni Yiɣ’jem’ on Saturday, 7th January, 2023 via phone call.
“The purpose of the refresher course is to refresh our minds on the laws of the game and also bring our attention to some few changes made in the laws. So those of us that are not here are likely to mess up in Officiation in the leagues and might not be allowed to officiate in the leagues”. Mr. A. A Alhassan stated.
However, we are ready to arrange for absentees with tangible reasons to be taken through what happened within the three days.
The Northern Regional Leagues and District Juvenile leagues will start in January, 2023 and February, 2022 respectively.
