RAG CHAIRMAN JUSTIFIES EXCLUSION OF REFEREES FROM NORTHERN REGION FROM THE FIFA ELITE COURSE.
The Referees Committee of the Ghana Football Association in consultation with the Assessors and Classification Panel have approved a list of Thirty Referees for next month’s FIFA/MA ELITE Online Course.
The FIFA course will run from 30th September to 2nd October 2020.
Unfortunately, no referee from Northern Region is part of the ELITE online course. This generated so much controversy and blame game among the referee body and stakeholders in the region.
In an interview with Radio Tamale, the Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG), Northern Region, A.A Alhassan stated that the referees in the region are still growing and when they are qualified for the ELITE course they will be picked.
“I don’t know how the referees were selected, but when the time comes for referees from Northern Region to be selected, they will be selected” he added.
According to the Chairman, he was shocked when the list was published and no referee from the region was part, but upon reflection he realized that when the referees from the region put in their best they will get there.
So many referees from the northern region are deemed to be good with high potentials but it is left with them to justify themselves through hard work.
The list includes Twenty FIFA Referees and Ten Class One Referees.
GFA Physical Instructors, Anthony Tetteh-Opae, Augustine Fugah and Vivian Aggor who are responsible for the Training Theory and the fitness of referees and their training will be in charge of the physical and endurance test of these referees.
