N/R: National Sports Authority Engages Media.

The National Sports Authority in the Northern Region recently engaged with media representatives to foster collaboration aimed at revitalizing the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium into a premier venue for sports events. This engagement, held on 27th May 2024 at the Director’s Office, focused on aligning strategies for effective management and utilization of the stadium.



During the session, Mr. Iddrisu B Ahamed, the Regional Sports Director, emphasized the pivotal role of media partnerships in achieving success. He stressed the importance of a symbiotic relationship between the sports authority and media outlets to maximize the potential of the facility. Mr. Ahamed also pledged the authority’s commitment to working closely with the media for seamless operations at the stadium.


Highlighting the untapped potential, Mr. Albert Adu-Acosuah, the Estate Manager of the facility, urged media collaboration with the National Sports Authority. He showcased the broadcasting rooms and other media facilities within Aliu Mahama Stadium, expressing regret that these resources were underutilized. Mr. Adu-Acosuah encouraged sports journalists to leverage these amenities and assured them of the authority’s accessibility for information and support regarding the stadium.

In his address, the new Director of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Ahamed, assured the Tamale community of concerted efforts to restore Aliu Mahama Stadium to its former glory. While acknowledging the challenges ahead, he affirmed his dedication to the task, citing the need for time and strategic planning to achieve comprehensive improvements.


The collaborative efforts between the National Sports Authority and media entities signal a proactive approach towards enhancing sports infrastructure and fostering community engagement in the Northern Region.
