N/R : It is unacceptable that Northern Region do not have a team in the premier league – Kwabena Yeboah
President of the Sports Writers Associations of Ghana (SWAG), Mr. Kwabena Yeboah has said that it is completely unacceptable for Northern Region not to have a team in the premier league of Ghana
He says he cannot understand why a team from the north is not playing in the Ghana league, describing it as unacceptable
“I cannot understand why in my life we do not have a regional premier team in the Northern Region.It’s unacceptable”. Kwabena Yeboah is quoted to have said
The Veteran Sports Journalist made the statement when he was addressing his colleagues in Tamale during the inaugural ceremony of the Tamale Branch of SWAG, at Pioneer Guest Lodge on Saturday, 31st October, 2020
He has however appealed to stakeholders in the game to put all hands on desk to work hard to bring back at least one team from the north into the premiership
“I think let me humbly appeal to the elders of the region, the NRFA Chairman, and everybody, to do our outmost best to have at least one premier team in the region, because it is completely unacceptable”. Mr. Yeboah emphasized
He recounted the days where Real Tamale United (RTU) raised the image of the north and produced players for the nation
Maestro Abedi Ayew Pele, Mohammed Dauda, Anane Kobo and Mohammed Choo were some of the players Kwabena Yeboah said RTU Produced for Ghana
The ace Journalist, is in company with some SWAG executives who are on a nationwide campaign trying to bring all sports journalists in country under one umbrella
Similar inaugurations have so far taken place in Volta, Ashanti, Bono,and Eastern Regions
