Mubarak Wakaso sends heartfelt message to Sacked C.K Akunnor
Black Stars Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso sent a heartfelt message to Coach C.K Akunnor on Facebook after he was sacked by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday.
C.K Akunnor was fired on Monday evening following Ghana’s disappointing World Cup Qualifiers defeat to South Africa, the abysmal performance exhibited by the team saw them end the game without a shot on target, which angered many Ghanaians, who took to social media to call for his immediate sacking.
Mubarak Wakaso, who now plays for Chinese side Shenzhen FC, earlier today posted on his Facebook page to thank his formal boss and also wished him the best of luck in his next Job.
“Coach C.K. Akonnor, when I was a little boy in Tamale I watched you play football.
Later,I became a ball boy/ player for Gold Fields where you played. You became my coach at the Black Stars. Thank you for everything and best of luck in your next job. I know you will succeed inshallah.” Wakaso wrote.
The Midfielder is one of the most consistent player to have received numerous call up’s since C.K took over about a year ago.
Wakaso was the joint top scorer during the 2013 Afcon, and his performances for the Black Stars in the 2015 Afcon took Ghana to the finals which saw them defeated on penalties shootout by Ivory Coast.
C.K Akunnor’s successor is expected to be named today with former Ghana head coach Milovan Rajevac the front runner to be given the mandate. He led Ghana to the Quarter finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The next Black Stars coach is expected to guide the team in a must win world Cup qualifying double header against Zimbabwe on October 6 and 10th respectively.
