The former Real Valladolid player Mohammed Salisu made his debut in the Premier League today as he played 90 minutes in their draw against Chelsea.

His performance was extremely solid and he will hope to stay free from injuries now, to show his great potential in England.

His game in numbers, he had 74% pass accuracy, 7 ball recoveries, 6 clearances, he made 5 tackles and won 3 of them. He joined Southampton in a four year deal from spanish side Valladolid in August last year, owing to an injury suffered while in spain, he had to delay training for a month.

In December, he was back fully and available for game selection, but he was kept on the bench by the coach, for six consecutive games before sustaining another injury.

After six months of waiting, he made his debut for the club. The Ghanaian defender finally made his debut for Southampton as they beat Wolves by 2-0 in the FA cup. His debut game today in the Premier League and the performance he exhibited, could hand him another call up for the Black Stars having turned down his maiden Ghana call-up in 2019 due to injury.

Salisu could be handed another invitation for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
