MGWPL Match Report: Fabulous Ladies suffer 3-2 defeat in the hands of PearlPia Ladies in Tamale

Last season’ third placed team, PearlPia Ladies beat Kumasi based Fabulous Ladies FC by 3-2 at Aliu Mahama Sports stadium in Tamale on Friday, October 20, 2022.


The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League Match Day 3 fixture was seen as the David and Goliath Match, considering the performance of Fabulous Ladies in their previous matches. Fabulous Ladies were yet to register a point in the league while PearlPia Ladies had 4 points from their last two matches.


Sharifa Iddi scored the opener on the 13th minute for the home side, PearlPia Ladies to put them ahead of the visitors, Fabulous Ladies. Two minutes after the opener, the new signing, Torkudzor Frederica double the lead.

The first half ended 2-0 for PearlPia Ladies.

Fabulous Ladies came into the second half with vigor forcing PearlPia Ladies goalkeeper, Asagpor Lynda to make a very vital saves to still keep her team in a lead. Abubakari Afisatu headed in a fine cross from her team mate to give Fabulous Ladies some respire on the 60th minute.

Fabulous Ladies mounted more pressure, committing so many players upfront. A quick break from PearlPia Ladies enabled Abdul Rahman Barikisu to register the 3rd goal for PearlPia Ladies with just 9 minutes to the end of the match.


When everything seemed to be over, Fabulous Ladies FC striker, Abubakari Afisatu registered her second for the day and for her team just few minutes to the end of the match.


Her effort wasn’t enough to earn Fabulous Ladies a point and the match ended 3-2 for PearlPia Ladies. This becomes Fabulous Ladies 3rd defeat in 3 matches and are at the bottom of the table.

PearlPia Ladies FC with this win places them on 7 points and are top of the tables awaiting results from other matches in the coming days.
