Malta Guinness WPL: Pearlpia Ladies FC Players Receive New Football Boots

The players of Pearlpia Ladies FC, a Tamale-based Women’s Premier League club, have been equipped with brand new football boots in preparation for the second round of the 2023/2024 season. The Ghana Football Association, under the leadership of GFA Capo, fulfilled its promise, providing 30 pairs of boots to each Women’s Premier League club. This initiative aims to support women’s football development and alleviate the financial burden on women’s club owners.
The boots were handed over to the players by the club’s management on Friday, 9th February 2024, at the club’s training ground. Mohammed Mutaka, the club’s media officer, expressed the players’ excitement, highlighting the significant challenge faced by football players in the country due to the lack of proper equipment.
Mutaka stated, “The players were genuinely thrilled. The shortage of football boots has been a persistent challenge, particularly for female players and those in lower divisions. This intervention by the Ghana Football Association, spearheaded by President Kurt E. S Okraku, is commendable.”
The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League is currently on recess and is scheduled to resume during the weekend of 16-19 February 2024.
Despite a slow start to the season, Pearlpia Ladies FC is anticipated to make a strong comeback in the second round. As of the break, the team held the 9th position on the 2023/2024 season league log with eight (8) points.
