Klian Mbappe makes history as his Hat trick blowout Barcelona
Klian Mbappe scored a perfect hat trick to secured a first leg advantage over Barcelona in the round of sixteenth of the UEFA Champions league at the Camp nou.
Paris Saint Germain came from behind to win 1:4 against Barcelona. That win was their first ever victory over Barcelona at the Camp nou.
The last time the French Champions came to the Camp nou was in 2017, it was a total disgrace for them as they were hammered 6:1 by the Catalans to help them overturned the 4:0 home advantage PSG were holding.
The Paris team were on top of the game in the early exchanges of the game, and shockingly conceded a penalty when Kurzawa accidentally fouled Frenki De Jong. Lionel Messi took the penalty and blast the ball on to the right corner to hand Barcelona the lead.
That goal was Messi 20th in the season making it his 13th in a row. The goal also helped him to equal Real Madrid legend Raul record of scoring in the UEFA Champions league for the seventeenth year in a row. Raul first scored his first in 1995 and continued until 2011.
Messi on the other hand scored his first in 2005 and has also been consistent throughout.
Klian Mbappe’s hat trick at the Camp nou was the first the Catalans has conceded in the Champions league since Andriy Shevchenko in 1997.
A hat trick from Mbappe and one goal from Kean help Psg to win at the Nou Camp, which makes them the second French team to win at the home of the Catalans since Metz who also won 1:4 against Barcelona in 1984.
Mbappe after this showdown has helped PSG to partly take a revenge against their arch rivals on this stage. The French has failed to eliminate the Catalans in the knockout stage of the competition on three different occasions.
With this away victory, they can be rest assured of taking down the Catalans completely.
Barcelona will hope to find the spirit of the 2017 comeback, this one is unlikely considering the teams performance this season. Back in 2017 when they did the magic, Andrews Iniesta, Luis Suarez and Neymar were all at the club, but now everything is on Messi to deliver, which makes it impossible even if he played with all his might.
The return fixture is on March 3, 2021 at the Park De Princess, can Barcelona get another comeback or the resistance of Psg will continue.
