In-form Sheriff crucial to Steadfast’s recent fortunes
Steadfast FC are currently in sparkling form this season, losing only once in their last eight games. One thing worth noting about this growing form is that the club has always scored more goals and conceded less.
This is largely as a result of the impact of the brilliant Mohammed Sheriff, who has been in tremendous form. He has been a wall at the back, ensuring they defend well to quell attacks from opponents.
A utility player, Sheriff has manned various positions across the field; in defence, midfield and attack. His pace to chase attackers and ability to time his tackles have made him a reliable centre-back. In midfield, Sheriff boasts of impressive passing and ball-winning capability.
In attack, he shoots from distance and exudes aerial prowess. Often deployed as a wing-back, his pace and pinpoint crossing from the flanks enhance his side’s goal scoring chances.
The former Real Republicans player has been a mainstay in the starting lineup. He has scored four goals in twelve matches and provided four assists, helping his club accumulate 23 points, placing them third on the league standings, a point behind leaders RTU.
A goalscoring defender, fans liken him to Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid. Sheriff’s versatility makes him every coach’s choice. Haven been invited to the national team before, the expectation is that he will receive more call-ups going forward.
In the meantime, his club remains focused on fighting for the Premier League ticket from Zone One and Sheriff has a lot to do in ensuring that.
