GPL: David Abagna’s brace sealed first victory for Real Tamale United
Former AshGold midfielder David Abagna Sanda puts on yet another marvelous performance as he stirred the GPL returnees, Real Tamale United to victory over the Sogakope Academy Boys, WAFA.
In a much anticipated game, both teams were looking for their first victory of the season after they all failed to win any of their last two matches.
RTU played a 1-1 draw against Accra Great Olympics at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in the opening day fixture of the season. The club made a trip to the national capital last week for a 3-2 defeat against Legon Cities FC.
WAFA on the other hand lost to King Faisal in match day one and followed it with a 1-1 draw against the reigning GPL Champions Accra Hearts Of Oak.
Real Tamale United took an early lead on the 10th minute through the club’s record signing of the season, David Abagna.
Several chances came begging in the first half of the game and the final delivery wasn’t good enough to secure RTU more goals in the first half.
With both teams searching for the three maximum points in the game, it was David Abagna who put the game beyond reach when he fired in from a short distance with his left foot to double his sides lead in the 75th minute. The match ended 2-0 in favour of the home side, RTU. The win has taken RTU to 7th place on the league standings with four points.
