Asante Kotoko set to Appoint Former Black Stars Coach Mariano Barreto as new manager.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been struggling with managerial issues since the sacking of Coach Maxwell Konadu earlier in the season.
Sportsmrnews.com understands that Kotoko C.E.O Nana Yaw Amponsah has submitted a list of coaches to the club board, and that the board has settled on Mariano Barreto from the shortlist.
Barreto coaches Ghana between 2003-2004 and also coached Cs Maritimo between 2004-2005.
He then moved to Al Nasr in 2005, before moving to Naval between 2006-2007. He also coached Al Qudisiyah in 2011.
After his job at Al Qudisiyah he was appointed the coach of the Euthopian National team from 2014- 2015.
He also managed Fc Stumbras from 2016 where he led them to win the Lithuanian football Cup in 2017.
Kotoko after parting ways with Maxwell Konadu was been managed by interim boss Johnson Smith, and because he does not have Caf License A Certificate, the club had to appoint Abdulai Gazale as their substantive manager ahead of their CAF Confiderations Cup qualifiers against Es Setif.
Even though Johnson Smith is always seen on the touchlines, the club feels is time to get a new and experience trainer who can help them compete in the Ghanaian topflight and also do well in Africa.
