GPL : Abdulai Iddrisu – the best Goalkeeper in the Ghana Premier League?
Abdulai Iddrisu is arguably the best goalkeeper in the Ghana Premier League this season with the most clean sheets
The 24 year old joined Bechem United during the 2020/21 season, and made his debut in February, 2020 against Accra Great Olympics
Iddrisu has since performed marvelously well, and has become a reliable asset for the Bechem side in goal.
The 2021/22 season in the Ghana Premier League is the best in Abdulai’s career so far, playing 11 home league games and keeping 11 home clean sheets.
He is the only goalkeeper in the league yet to concede a goal at home after match week 25 round of fixtures
He saved a 92nd minute penalty to earn his team a point away from home in a goalless draw against Dreams FC in Dawu.
He was also man of the match in the game against Karela in Ayinase
The Bechem United No.1 has made 23 appearances out of 25 this season and has kept 16 clean sheets and conceded just 10
goals.
Due to a minor injury Abdulai picked up at training after a knock on the shoulder, he was not part of squad when the club lose 3-2 to Eleven Wonders after giving away a 2-0 lead at the Ohene Ameyaw park in Techiman on Sunday
Bechem United will host Karela United on Monday in match week 26 fixture of the Ghana Premier League, and Abdulai is expected to be on duty for his side.
Given his current form and the goalkeeping deficit in the national teams, Abdulai Iddrisu needs to be observed critically and given a possible consideration into one of the National sides.
