In a thrilling encounter at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale, Karela FC salvaged a crucial 1-0 victory against Kpando Hearts of Lions on Matchday 7 of the Ghana Premier League. Abdul Latif’s decisive goal in the 87th minute not only secured the three points for Karela but also ended Hearts of Lions’ unbeaten run this season.

Leading up to this match, Karela FC faced mounting pressure, having recorded only one win, two draws, and three losses in their last six games. A defeat would have deepened their struggles and jeopardized their season. Approaching the game with determination, Karela needed a strong performance to reignite their campaign.

The first half saw Kpando Hearts of Lions control the tempo, winning crucial battles and creating several opportunities. However, they failed to convert their dominance into goals, leaving the match scoreless at halftime. Karela FC, while under pressure, held firm, waiting for their chance to strike.

In a pivotal moment of the match, Hadi Mohammed, making his first start, showcased his individual brilliance by earning a penalty in the 86th minute. Abdul Latif stepped up to take the spot-kick, calmly slotting it home to give Karela the lead. This late goal not only thrilled the Karela fans but also provided relief for coach Jimmy Cobbler, who had been feeling the heat following a disappointing start to the season.

Hadi Mohammed’s exceptional performance earned him the MVP award, highlighting his impact on the game and the team’s morale. With this win, Karela FC now sits on 8 points in the league standings, looking forward to building on their success in the upcoming match against Bechem United.

The victory against Hearts of Lions is a significant boost for Karela FC as they aim to turn their season around and regain their competitive edge in the league.
