Football : Neymar & Mbappe in talks over signing new PSG contracts, reveals Nasser
Neymar and Mbappe have been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes over previous transfer windows, but Kylian Mbappe and Neymar ‘both want to stay’ at Paris Saint-Germain.
That’s according to the French giants’ president Nasser al-Khelaifi who claims the star duo are in talks over extending their stay at the club.
Neymar has repeatedly been linked with a return to Barcelona, while Kylian Mbappe’s suitors are headed up by Real Madrid.
Both forwards have 18 months left on their current PSG deals but Al-Khelafi is ‘very confident’ they’ll remain in the French capital beyond that.
‘We have begun to talk with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe,’ he told RMC Sport.
‘The discussions will remain confidential but I am very confident.
‘They both want to stay with us at PSG.’
Speaking about his future, Neymar told reporters he wishes to remain with the Ligue 1 team.
‘I am very happy here, in Paris,’ he said. ‘I am very happy at the club, with my team-mates. The idea of leaving has not crossed my mind.
‘We need to talk. We have a very good relationship, I am very happy and we will see what happens in the future.’
The Brazilian and Mbappe demonstrated their class on Wednesday evening by scoring all five of PSG’s goals in their 5-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir in the group stages.
Neymar scored a 29-minute hat-trick, while Mbappe got a 20-minute brace as Thomas Tuchel’s side finished top of Group H.
Neymar has nine goals in 11 games for PSG this season, while France international Mbappe has 12 goals in 15 appearances.
