FA Cup: Hearts of Oak win 2021/22 MTN FA Cup

Hearts of Oak came from a goal down to beat Bechem United in the finals of the 2021/22 MTN FA Cup Finals on Sunday.

Bechem United took the lead after Emmanuel Avornyo converted a rebound from Augustine Okrah’s powerful drive. With barely a minute to end the half, Hearts of Oak’s Caleb Amankwah scored to draw parity for the Phobians at halftime.

The second half began with everything to play. Daniel Afriyie Barnieh once again rose to the occasion to lobby a delightful assist from Gladson Awako to put Hearts ahead in the 60th minute.

Bechem United were reduced to 10 men eight minutes later as Augustine Okrah was sent off for head-butting a linesman. Hearts of Oak held onto the lead to finish the game 2-1 to defend their MTN FA Cup trophy.

The Phobians will join Asante Kotoko to represent Ghana in the Africa club competition next season.
