E.T. Mensah, the former Minister of Youth and Sports and a prominent Member of Parliament, has sadly passed away at the age of 77. He breathed his last in South Africa on a Sunday night after battling with health issues for some time.

Born on May 17, 1946, Enoch Teye Mensah held significant roles in Ghana’s political landscape. He served as the Minister of Youth and Sports during the Rawlings era and held the position of Member of Parliament for an impressive 20 years, spanning from January 1997 to January 2017.

During his tenure, he also took on the role of Minister for Youth and Sports in former President J.J. Rawlings’ government for two terms. Later, in January 2010, President John Evans Atta Mills appointed him as the Minister for Employment and Social Welfare after a cabinet reshuffle.

E.T. Mensah’s commitment to public service continued when, on February 12, 2021, he was elected as the representative of the Greater Accra Region on the Council of State.

E.T. Mensah’s legacy extends beyond politics; he was a dedicated family man, married and blessed with seven children. His contributions to Ghana will be remembered and celebrated by many.
