DORIS AFAFA SCORED A BRACE AS NORTHERN LADIES FC WON ANOTHER PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY MATCH.
Savelugu based division one league side, Yoo Ladies Fc hosted Tamale based Premier League side, Northern Ladies Fc for a Pre-Season friendly match on Saturday, 5th December, 2020 at Savelugu M/A JHS Park. The euphoria at the park was very high as several football fans from Savelugu and its environs were there in their numbers to watch their darling club, Yoo Ladies Fc. However, the loyal supporters of Northern Ladies Fc were not also left out as they traveled all the way from Tamale to Savelugu to watch the match.
The match started well for both sides as they played a very balanced game in the first 10 minutes of the match. However, things started getting better for Northern Ladies Fc when they started using their Premier League experience to turn things around, with their first chance coming on the 9th minute through Amoako Dorithy but that didn’t turn into the opener.
Coach Basiru Deen’s side kept on pressing in search for the opening goal but didn’t get it easy. The attackers of his side however forced the home side, Yoo Ladies to commit a foul in their own 18 yard which resulted to a spot kick that was calmly converted by the skipper of Northern Ladies Fc, Doris Afafa to give Northern Ladies the opener.
Coach Barihama’s Yoo Ladies Fc got back into the game by possessing the ball and pushing so hard to get the equalizer but their efforts could only get them two squandered chances in the first half.
The home side came back strongly in the second half of the match leading to them getting the equalizer on the 53rd minute through Zakaria Amina. However, it didn’t take much time for Northern Ladies Fc to restore their lead when Doris Afafa scored her second goal of the day from a direct corner kick on the 67th minute before the Black Maidens defender, Seidu Faiza made it three for the visitors on the 79th minute. The match ended 3-1 in favour of the visitors, Northern Ladies Fc.
The match was the 6th pre-season friendly match played by Northern Ladies Fc.
Northern Ladies Fc has gone on a very short break and will resume training on Wednesday, 9th December, 2020 to continue preparations ahead of the new season.
