DOL Zone One: Welbeck Takyi, Alhassan Siisu, Kofi Patrick and Sam Otis battle for the Goal King Gong in Zone One

This seasons division one league has taken a different step in Zone One, as players are in a serious battle for the leading goal scorer award. With still many games to play, the contention for the decorated award has just begin.

Welbeck Takyi of Bofoakwa Tano, has been in a fine form this season, striking nine times in eleven games played so far in the league, which put him first in the leading scorers chart, his exploits led to Black Stars Coach C.K Akunnor given him a call up to the senior national team.
He is also been linked to Kumasi Asante Kotoko as a like to like replacement for Kwame Opoku, who signed for Algerian giants USM Algiers on Wednesday. He previously played for B.A United and Berekum Chelsea.

Current league leaders Steadfast Fc’s forward Alhassan Siisu is second with seven goals to his name. Siisu has been instrumental to them in front of goal after Fataw Issahaku left for the U-20 Championship in Mauritania. Siisu even bagged a hat trick against Kintampo FC which earned him the MVP award in that game at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

Alhassan Siisu’s goals has helped his team to occupy the first position gathering 22 points from eleven games played.
Siisu will be hoping he finds his scoring boots to launch a chase for the top award as he has not scored since his hat trick against Kintampo FC.

Joint second place is been occupied by Ansu Kofi Patrick of Berekum Arsenals, the young player has also scored seven goals which has helped to still keep his team in contention for qualification to the Premier League. Berekum Arsenals currently has 21 points from eleven games trailing the leaders Steadfast and second place team Mighty Royals with only a point. His current form could see him also getting a call up to any of the national teams.
He will be hoping to add more goals to claim the top spot.

Tamale City FC forward Sam Otis is also in contention for the goal king award, as he now has six goals to his name, the attacker has also been good in front of goal which has impacted his team to accumulate 20 points from eleven games, they are only two points behind the table leaders.
He was on target in their 2-1 win against Bofoakwa Tano, his goal double their lead before he was sent off in the game. Sam Otis performance won’t be overlooked if he continues with that, the national teams Coaches are now prepared to give chances to local players who are doing well for their teams.

Other players in the chase are Sadam Dauda of B.A. United who is having five goals, Oteng Ebenezer of Unity FC has also scored five goals.
Tamale City FC Isaac Mensah has four goals, Kwabena Owusu Sekyere of Nsoatreman FC with also four goals.

Steadfast and Black Satellites sensation, Abdul Fataw Issahaku who won the U-20 player of the Afcon Championship in Mauritania scored three goals before he left to the tournament. Also joining him with three goals is his team mate Abu Abdulla.

The first round hasn’t ended and so there’s still more chances for any of them to challenge for the Goal King Gong.
