DOL: Yendi Gbewaa FC secures second win as RTU earns a vital away point
Yendi Gbewaa FC fought hard to earned their second win of the current campaign today, at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, it was a vital three points for the Yendi club as they hope to move out of the relegation zone.
The new Coach for Gbewaa Danjuma still has a lot of work to do, as his sides win has only moved them temporarily to 15th position, with Paga Crocodiles playing tomorrow, a win for the Crocodiles will push them up but a lose will have Gbewaa FC occupying the 15th atleast for the time being.
The Yendi club has only won a single game and drew two games before today’s game, and the win will help uplift their spirit as they look forward to playing with all their might in order to survive relegation. They are very much aware how difficult it is to qualify to division one and so will not wants to be relegated.
Real Tamale United also fought hard to earned themselves a point against Bofoakwa Tano at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
New signing Frimpong scored his second goal since joining the RTU, but his goal was short lived as the equalizer came some minutes after. The referee awarded the home side a penalty which was calmly converted to make it 2-1 at half time.
Coach Shaibu Tanko’s RTU came back strongly in the second half to equalize the goal, and thanks to Mustapha, he scored to have them levelled.
The draw gave coach Shaibu Tanko’s side a 21 points after eleven games played so far.
That single point will be key to them as it has always been a difficult task going to B.A to play a divisional game.
Their game against Nsoatreman FC was disastrous as many of their back room staff and some players were beaten, their last visit to B.A before this game was a 1-0 defeat against Mighty Royals.
The draw saw them dropped back to third place as Coach Mohammed Gargo’s Steadfast Fc now occupies the top of the table. They are levelled on points with Mighty Royals who also record a 1-0 victory over Wa Suntaa SC today. They now have 22 points from eleven games and they occupies the second position on the league standings.
Coach Shaibu Tanko’s side will hope to maintain their form away from home as they look forward to continue their fight for promotion to the Premiership.
