DOL: THE BATTLE FOR PREMIER LEAGUE SLOT CONTINUES, ZONE ONE UNDER CONSIDERATION
The battle for a Premiership slot is becoming tougher and tougher as six clubs have shown an early signs of launching a strong contest to the only slot available.
Playing in the Ghana Premier League has always been a dream to many clubs and players in the country, especially those in the first division.
This has created a competitive fight in the zone as they scramble for the only available one slot in the zone.
The six clubs are Berekum Arsenals who have accumulated 17 points from 7 matches, they are currently on top of the league table with an unbeaten run so far. The next on the list is Bofoakwa Tano, they have also shown signs of challenging for the slot as they have accumulated 16 points from 7 games to put them second on the table just one point behind leaders Berekum Arsenals.
Takyi Welbeck form has also been a threat to many teams, he is currently the leading scorer in Zone one with 8 goals from 7 games.
He even got a call up to the Black Stars team of 32 players.
The next on the list is Real Tamale United, the pride of the north until their game against Tamale City FC were unbeaten in the league, winning all three of their opening games, they have also achieved 14 points from 7 games, they won their last game against Paga Crocodiles Stars at Paga. Coach Shaibu Tanko’s side will also be boosted by the return of their striker Yakubu Labandow Computer, who was sidelined for a knock in their first game against Kintampo FC.
The fourth team on the list is Tamale Steadfast Fc, they are currently on 4th on the table, Coach Mohammed Gargo’s side after a poor start of the season had won their previous four games, which has them occupying 4th after 8 games. They were defeated today by Kintampo FC at the Nana Ameyaw Park.
Tamale City has also been doing well in the league since beating RTU.
Coach Hamza Mohammed side overturned a 2:0 first half defeat to win the game by 2:3 in the second half against Wa Suntaa fc.
They will be playing without Abdul Fataw Issahaku who is currently on a national duty with the U-20 team.
Last but not list is Mighty royals who are on fifth on the league table, they also had a bright start but shambles on the way which has caused them to occupy that position just as Young Apostles.
The table could shake up a bit as Tamale City battle it out with Mighty Royals who are on 5th.
Also Berekum Arsenals will also be tested by Young Apostles who wants to regained their form after a bright start.
Bofoakwa will also visit the Nkoranza children park to battle it out with Nkoranza worriors.
Real Tamale United will also take on Wa Suntaa fc who lost 2:3 against Tamale City last weekend. Coach Shaibu Tanko’s men will want to continue mounting pressure on Arsenals and will not take the game lightly.
The battle to survive relegation will also produce a relegation threatening battle between Unity fc and Yendi Gbewaa FC.
The transfer window has just opened, and teams that make good use of it could pull out a miracle in the contest.
