Tamale City may not be in their usual best this season but a strong fortunes of the fans, management and players are dairing to give them a chance to gain a maiden promotion to the Ghanaian topflight football.

Coach Hamza Mohammed side had a poor start to the season, recording four points in their opening four games, which was far from their usual best.

But after their Derby game against arch rivals Real Tamale United in the first round which they won by 1-0, the story changed from there resulting to them going a seven games unbeaten, and also managed to end the first round unbeaten against their top five rivals.

With the undying believe from fans and players as well as the management board to push further for qualification, they had another set backs in their opening four games of the second round with disappointing results.

Meanwhile their arch rivals Real Tamale United were high flying in form, with another derby game looming, R.T.U were tagged as favourites to win the game just like the first round, but a well determined Tamale City outplayed their opponents to force the game to a 1-1 draw at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

And just like they did in the first round, Tamale City are currently in a scintillating form after their Derby game, with their two subsequent games against Sky FC in the MTN FA Cup ending in their favour with a 2-1 win and last weekend trip to Paga also ending a 3-0 victory for them.

They will be up against Wa Suntaa SC today at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, with a chance to place second if they managed to win against the relegation battlers.
Steadfast and Berekum Arsenals all slipped yesterday with 0-0 draws in their respective games, and Kintampo FC vs Bofoakwa Tano match ending abruptly.

This could be a perfect opportunity for Hamza Mohammed to launch a challenge for the only Premiership slot in the Zone.
A win for Tamale City will see them close the wide gap between them and leaders RTU to five points, as they currently are trailing them by eight points.

But one worrying thing about Hamza Mohammed’s side is their poor scoring, they always looked frustrated in front of goal.
Main forward Sam Ortis is not consistent in scoring, even though he has scored nine times so far, but he could have done better.

The only player right now for Hamza Mohammed to place his bet on is Salis Tawfik, with the player joining them lately but has so far shown why he was brought in to Cityzens family.
He bagged a hat-trick in their last game against Paga Crocodiles Stars and has been impressive in all the games he played. He surely has a bright future ahead of him.

The underrated Kofei Emmanuel will also hope to find his form in today’s must win game. The young talented right back was impressive against RTU in both the first round and the second round, and he has received a massive backing from the Cityzens supporters.

Next for Tamale City after this game today will be a trip away to face Wamanafo Mighty Royals.
