DOL: RTU supporters happily welcome players and officials of Nsoatreman fc to Tamale just for the love of football.
Barely a week from today, players and officials of Real Tamale United (RTU) were pelted with stones in Nsoatre after their match day 5 game against Nsoatreman fc in the Brong Ahafo Region which ended with a 1-1 draw.
This incident left some players and officials of RTU severely injured. The act made the Ghana Football Association to immediately close down Twumasi Sports Complex park and followed it with further investigations.
Meanwhile, Nsoatreman fc returned to Tamale on Saturday, 13th February 2021 to face RTU regional rivals, Yendi Gbewaa fc at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
Rumor had it that supporters of RTU will retaliate when Nsoatreman Fc visits Tamale. Unfortunately it was rather the opposite. The Supporters union had agreed that for the love of the game and the need for the club to focus on qualifying into the Ghana Premier League, everything should be left in the hands of the Ghana Football Association. The leadership and supporters of RTU have faith in GFA and believe the country’s football governing body will let the laws of the game work.
The Chairman of Real Tamale United supporters group provided an excort team to the Nsoatreman team on their way back home, just to give them the assurance that RTU is not interested in taking revenge since Football is meant to unite and not to divide.
Three defensive errors from Yendi Gbewaa fc gifted Nsoatreman three goals, Scored by Kwabena Owusu Sakyere on the 22nd minute, William Gerald Asamoah on the 28th minute and Abenezer Adai on the 32nd minute.
Yendi Gbewaa fc pulled one back through a spot kick by Ibrahim Bashiru on the 43rd minute. The match ended 1:3 for the Nsoatreman fc.
It is expected that GFA expedite action on the perpetrators of that barbaric act to deter supporters from taking similar steps should their team loss at home.
