Real Tamale United clash with Gbewaa FC in another Tamale derby game.

The past two weeks of the Division One League in Zone One has seen series of derbies in Tamale.

The first was Tamale City FC and Steadfast Fc in a 1-1 draw, the second was Tamale City FC winning 1-0 against Gbewaa FC and Steadfast Fc also beating RTU by a loan goal. Remember RTU lost 1-0 to Tamale City FC on match day 5 which was the first Tamale derby game of the season.

This week’s fixture is between two old clubs in the region, Yendi Gbewaa fc and Real Tamale United in another derby encounter at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The game is expected to be a tough contest as expected in derby games especially when one is chasing for a return to the Premiership and the other struggling to escape Relegation.

The last time the two teams met was a 1-1 draw at same venue last year, and it is expected that Gbewaa will give RTU a good fight as they aim to survive relegation.

Gbewaa fc currently occupies 15th position on the league standings with 8 points, winning two games and drawing two. They have conceded 20 goals so far scoring 10. They have also lost nine games in 13 matches played so far.

Real Tamale United on the other hand are currently doing well, occupying 4th place and trailing leaders Berekum Arsenals by three points. The team has scored 17 goals so far in the league and have also conceded 9 goals so far. They have won seven games and lost three and also drawing three.

Both Real Tamale United and Gbewaa FC has lost their previous two derby games to Tamale City and Steadfast Fc.

Real Tamale United are natural winners of the game considering their current position, but a mischievous fortune fate might give Coach Danjuma’s side a chance to upset the Shaibu Tanko’s men.

The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday 27tb March, 2021 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium at exactly 3:00PM.
