The outstanding match from Match Day One between Tamale City and Kintampo Fc which was to take place on Wednesday 20th January, 2021 could not come on due to lack of security personnel at the match venue.
The players and the match officials were on the pitch ready for kick off and the attention of the referees was drawn to the fact that there were no security Officers at the venue which is a mandatory requirement for such matches.
After 53 minutes of waiting, the center referee had no option than to officially whistle for the closure of the match.
Supporters who paid to watch the match got ferious and started shouting, blaming the home club’s officials for their failure to ensure that security service personnel are available for the match.
Speaking to the Team Manager, Mr Iddrisu, he indicated that the club had done it’s part to ensure the security service officials were present.
“As a club, we have not done anything wrong, it is the Stadium authority who is responsible for security” he said
He also urged the supporters to remain calm as the club will do everything possible in order not to suffer any punishment.
It is still not clear, why the security personnel didn’t show up for the match.
Tamale City will welcome Young Apostles on Sunday, 24th January 2021 at the same venue.
